HyperOS 4 Update: Eligible Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO Devices

HyperOS 4 eligible devices by rollout wave: early November, mid-November and December 2026 for Xiaomi, REDMI and POCO

HyperOS 4, Xiaomi’s Android 17-based update, is rolling out to global Xiaomi, REDMI and POCO devices in three waves: early November 2026, mid-November 2026 and December 2026. The first wave covers the Xiaomi 17 series, REDMI Note 15 Pro and Note 15 models, the REDMI 17 line, POCO F8 Pro and Ultra, the POCO X8 Pro models and the Xiaomi Pad 8. If your phone is on the list, you can check for the update under Settings > About phone.

Below is Xiaomi’s full global schedule by wave, where it differs from early news reports, how to check for the update, and what to do if your model shows up but the download doesn’t.

Before you start

  • Applies to: global (non-China) versions of Xiaomi, REDMI and POCO phones and tablets
  • You need: Wi-Fi, at least 50% battery, and a recent backup of photos and chats
  • Time: 2 minutes to check; a full download and install usually takes longer, depending on size and connection
  • Key fact: Xiaomi calls its schedule an estimate that can change by region, carrier and model

What Xiaomi announced on November 3

On November 3, 2026, Xiaomi posted the HyperOS 4 global release schedule on its official HyperOS account on X, and 9to5Google reported that the stable build was rolling out from that day. Xiaomi’s own HyperOS 4 global page lists the same three waves and labels the first one “Starting from early November 2026” rather than giving a single start date.

The schedule only covers global models sold outside mainland China. Xiaomi’s footnote says the order of models inside each wave “does not represent the exact release sequence”, so two phones in the same wave can get the update weeks apart.

Where early reports differ from Xiaomi’s page

Several news summaries of the X post grouped models more loosely than Xiaomi’s own page. When they disagree, go by the official page:

  • Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra: some reports put them in the first wave; Xiaomi’s page lists them for mid-November.
  • REDMI Note 17 series: listed for mid-November on Xiaomi’s page, not early November. The early wave has the Note 15 Pro and Note 15 models.
  • REDMI 15 vs REDMI 15C: the REDMI 15C and 15C 5G are in the early wave; the REDMI 15 and REDMI 15 5G are in December.
  • REDMI Pad 2: the Pad 2 Pro models are mid-November; the standard Pad 2 and Pad 2 9.7 (Wi-Fi and 4G) are December.

How to check for the HyperOS 4 update

Xiaomi’s support FAQ puts the update controls inside the About screen:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap About phone (or About tablet).
  3. Tap the Xiaomi HyperOS tile at the top. This opens the system update screen and checks for a new version.
  4. If HyperOS 4 is offered, tap download and keep the phone on Wi-Fi and charging until it restarts.
  5. For download preferences such as automatic downloads, tap the three dots in the top-right corner of the update screen.

After the install, the same About screen shows the new HyperOS version and Android version. Allow a few minutes after the first boot for apps to finish optimizing before judging battery life or speed.

Your model is listed but the update hasn’t arrived

Xiaomi releases each build in stages, so a listed phone without the update is normal for the first days or weeks of its wave. A few things affect timing:

  • Region: Xiaomi publishes separate global, European, Indian and other regional builds, and they rarely go out the same day.
  • Carrier models: phones bought through a carrier can wait for that carrier’s approval.
  • Wave order: the order of models within a wave is not the release order, per Xiaomi’s footnote.

Avoid sideloading ROM files from unofficial sites to get the update early. A mismatched regional build can fail to install or reset the device, and files from unknown sources can be tampered with. Waiting for the over-the-air prompt is the safe route.

Before you install

  • Back up photos, chats and app data. If you use a Google account on the phone, a Google Takeout export covers Photos, Contacts and Drive data in one archive.
  • Free up storage. Major Android version updates need several gigabytes of free space to unpack.
  • Check your security patch level while you’re in Settings. Android’s November updates patch over 200 vulnerabilities, according to SecurityWeek, as covered in our Android November 2026 security update guide, and a feature update and a security patch don’t always arrive together.
  • If you’ve been waiting on the fix for the Android SMS crash bug, our SMS of Death patch check shows how to confirm your phone has it.

Frequently asked questions

Is HyperOS 4 based on Android 17?

Yes. 9to5Google’s report on the November 3 global rollout describes HyperOS 4 as Xiaomi’s Android 17 release. Xiaomi first announced HyperOS 4 in August and opened a beta soon after, per the same report.

Will my Xiaomi 13 get HyperOS 4?

Yes, according to Xiaomi’s global schedule. The Xiaomi 13, 13 Pro, 13 Ultra, 13T and 13T Pro are all in the December 2026 wave.

Why is my phone in two different waves on different websites?

Some reports merged similar model names, such as the REDMI 15 and REDMI 15C, or the REDMI Pad 2 Pro and REDMI Pad 2. Xiaomi’s own HyperOS 4 page lists them separately, and that page is the one to follow.

Can the schedule change?

Yes. Xiaomi states that the schedule is estimated and can change based on region, carrier, model and development progress.

What to do next

Find your exact model name under Settings > About phone, match it against the tables above, and check the Xiaomi HyperOS tile once a week until the update appears. Back up before you tap install.
